How does pricing work?
Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance. Credits are consumed per minute of live captioning — the rate depends on how many languages you're translating to. You can top up credits at any time. Unused monthly credits don't roll over, but purchased top-up credits never expire.
How much does captioning actually cost per minute?
One output language: approximately $2.40/hour ($0.04/min). Each additional output language adds ~$1.20/hour. So a session with one source and two target languages costs ~$3.60/hour. See /pricing for a full credit calculator.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every new account gets $2 in trial credits automatically. That's enough for a real 30-minute bilingual session. No credit card required to start.
Are glossaries and transcripts available on all plans?
Yes. Every plan includes custom glossaries (for domain-specific terminology like medical or religious terms) and session transcripts. Transcript retention varies: 30 days on Starter, 90 days on Growth, 1 year on Pro.
Does my audience need to install anything?
No. Audience members scan a QR code and see captions in their browser. No app, no account, no install — ever.
Can I use Captio for large conferences?
Captio currently supports one speaker per session, with audience sizes of hundreds of viewers. For multi-speaker panels or events requiring SLA guarantees, contact us — Pro plan includes a signed DPA and priority support.
